Eventzone is a map-based approach to a website for searching events around Providence, RI, created as part of a type studio assignment about designing layouts across different channels and dimensions. The proposed site would adopt location services to load events based on proximity and time, serving as a convenient check-in for users interested in a quick update on events nearby. By default, the user is presented with events that are closest to the user’s location at all hours in the same day, and filters such as categorical settings, date and time sliders, and city toggles allow for browsing a variety of local activities.

As a center of the arts, Providence is home to many creative students (RISD, Brown), activist groups, independent studios (The Design Office, DWRI Letterpress, Work-Shop), maker spaces (NewUrbanArts, AS220), and a lively culinary scene enhanced by aspiring chefs from the Johnson & Wales culinary institute. To organize all the events around Rhode Island, the 5 categories I settled on are "Activism", "Arts & Culture", "Food & Dining", "Enrichment", and "All Events", which would include miscellaneous activities. This provides concise yet diverse classification for a broad range of events that caters to different users' needs and remains accessible to various age groups in Providence.
